Duties:
- Provide financial advice and perform accountant work for internal agency operating programs
- Advise on and perform professional financial accounting duties
- Develop accounting procedures and resolve technical problems in executing a computerized, integrated accounting system
- Monitor and control accounts through timely recording, coding, balancing, and scrutinizing for inaccuracies
- Administer accounting systems designed to track, reconcile, and report on agency operation and maintenance funding and appropriations
- Validate accounting data entered into schedules and accounts, and reconcile accounts
- Analyze cost accounting reports, the status of fund reports, and other financial reports preparing summary statements and reports
- Propose solutions and alternatives to problem areas in financial reports
- Identify and resolve complex accounting transactions causing imbalances in financial reports
- Validate current processes concerning regulatory requirements
- Perform quality assurance review of existing and proposed accounting processes
- Prepare instructions and guidance in the implementation and operations of accounting procedures/programs

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Obtained a qualifying baccalaureate or graduate degree from an institution of higher education within the previous two years
- Degree in accounting or related field (e.g., business administration, finance, or public administration) with at least 24 semester hours in accounting
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05)
